Talking Thanks for the warm welcome guys

Still reviewing with the boss aka Mrs. wawazat??. Her idea of fun has nothing to do with way too many days in the car...and what fun is an SVX meet without the SVX...oh, wait a minute I've been to 3 Reading meets now without my SVX

The meets are for family. The SVX is a close second.

In past years, there's always been some discussion of the cars and some inspections and a picture shoot and a short tour, but the majority of the time was spent sightseeing around the clam/oyster farm, kayaking, eating seafood, drinking, and whatnot.

The SVX people have fun, but the rest of the family also have a great time. Lots to do and see.

As is the case with all of our events, including the SCENIC tours.

What happens at our events is truly based on who attends - if the diehard gearheads are all that show, generally it is standing around the cars talking. If more couples and families show, there is much more sightseeing and other activities. (BTW, the Spring and Fall tours are cleverly broken up into short segments with lots of scenic stops, so even if you have travelled great distance, it is not like driving for hours just to drive more hours - it is something different.)

Long story short, the Pacific Northwest is a pretty great and unique place, especially in the areas we plan our events - there is always something to do or see.

See you all at Dabob!

family event?

so does that mean svx world family or the monsters living in your house family? i will have the svx running very very soon as i just picked up a tranny from strictly subaru and my hubby brought the car home tonight so we can put it in!!!!! yeah i am stoked! so by then i will be able to drive it up but the real question is what do i do with the afore mentioned monsters? bring them or leave them with the cousins? no lodging would be needed as the cousins are practically your neighbors Earl. children can be a pain in an adult setting. i mean monsters, in an adult setting. they get bored really fast and then get annoying "when are we leaving?"

All are welcome at our events (within reason - a good rule of thumb is no more extra guests than can ride up in your SVX(es) ). As for kids, in the past there's usually one or two hanging around our events, always a welcome addition but up to you as far as what you want to deal with, etc.

In the past, there has been no fee or donation requested. You may be thinking of the maintenance meet held at Earl's house in March where he provided all the food. At Dabob, all the seafood is harvested fresh that day in the bay so there is not really any cost (aside from Earl's hard work and hospitality ). We do ask that people bring food for whatever meals they are planning to be there for to share potluck style.

I.e. if someone were just going to be there for the Saturday afternoon feast, maybe bring a side dish, salad, bags of chips, etc. If someone were going to be staying the weekend, bring a few side dishes, some breakfast stuff to share, maybe even the fixings for one of your famous meals, Earl shares his kitchen. It's no big deal, just common sense and courtesy. In the past two years we've done it this way and no one has ever gone hungry or felt like they had to overprovide.

OH, and it is BYOB for the whole weekend. With all the different places people come from, it usually ends up being quite the beverage swapping/sampling.

Last year we did hold a drawing for a few prizes to raise some money for the club, we may do that again if we can find some stuff to raffle off. Or sell T-shirts, videos, etc. We'll see.

Approved!!

After my supervisors had a meeting today it was determined that call volumes will be lower than expected in August and as a result my vacation request has been fully approved.

I'm planning on driving from Winnipeg, MB to Vancouver, BC before heading to the US. I'd like to visit as many SVX owners along the way as I can.

As for the return trip I believe we'll be coming back through the US but haven't decided the exact route I'll be taking.

I'd like a list of people on my way who wouldn't mind a travelling SVX'er stop by for a short visit.

It's gonna be great to have you here! It's a safe bet that you'll be meeting a ton of SVXers at the Dabob meet itself.

As for your roadtrip, I'm sure it goes without saying that a similar post up in the general babble and maybe also upcoming meets forums will get you some response from those between here and there.
