I do not get it!

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...threadid=23887

Ok, $650 for a garage full of parts that someone could make quite a nice profit from and no interest?

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...threadid=23611

$3,500 for a 5 Speed SVX that with a few hours work and $500 would be in mint condition.

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...threadid=23656

$1,900 for a '94 LSi that is mechanically sound (close to $10K in receipts) with minor damage that I could have fixed for $650 including replacing all the airbags componets and a mint condition front cover with support.

Seriously, am I that unreasonable or....? Would ANYONE be interested in taking EVERYTHING I have SVX wise (including both cars and the entire parts lot) for $5500? Because I'll just use it on a downpayment for a new car or another Mountaineer.

I should be shot thats why. God help me I love these cars but I mean.....I just do not know. You obviously can't give them away or sell parts. That means, at the rate I am going.....there will be 17 of them in my driveway...ROFLMAO

I honestly can not figure the hell out why that '94 LSi has not sold. Its been my baby since I bought it in May '03 with 110K miles. But, there have been plenty of times when something else has come up and I've wanted to sell it. For the life of me I couldn't give it away....and at the time it had reasonable mileage and was still in VG-Exec condition on the outside and inside.

I find it hard to believe anyone here could purchase a $1000+ SVX with a bad transmission, convert it to a 5spd (not cutting corners), and make it comparable to mine for $3,500.

The parts, well those speak for themselves. I see what some people on here get for stuff. I used a generic ($50,$35) values on part of my list and came up with well over $1500 in parts.

It's a Mystery to Me as Well!

I completely understand where you must be coming from with this. Obviously you've got BIG $$$ tied up here, with no interest from what you would think would be your target market. This car is a true mystery. I can't help but think that with the small production numbers and the many beauties inherent in the design and execution, albeit with some glaring weaknesses, it would at some point begin to appreciate in value, BUT when???
Were I to win the Lotto tomorrow, right after buying a new Carrera, I'd be calling you for a mailing address! I've been in love/lust with the SVX since first sight and drive in '92, and will always have a spot in the garage for her. Mine's a daily driver. It's so damn funny to go through the debate every time a trip comes up whether or not to put the miles on her, but she usually "loses", and "suffers" through some more blissful high speed miles. I only wish I could help relieve you of the "burden"!

Its my fault. The '94 has been my daily driver since I bought it. I love the SVX so much that within weeks of buying my '93 Super Coupe (which I also love)....I just prefered driving my X. I've invested a lot of time and money into the '94 because on an average I put 1,000 miles on it in a week...not to mention I'm downright anal with my cars. I'm just at a point where I'm not sure I want to sink a whole lot more money into that car to get it into the condition I want it to be (I'm a very picky person). Therefore I thought, sell it, someone might want it as a fixer or just a nice winter car. The car as I said can be fixed for ~$600. So, $2500 for a well rounded '94 LSi in above average condition with a documented history.....thats reasonable.

I'm torn on my Teal '92. The plan was to get it up and running then sell it. I dismantled my original 5spd car, because I bought the Teal SVX and it was such a nicer car with a documented history. Plus, I had 3 SVXs and the Tbird in my driveway....so I had to do something. I just imagined it would be easier clearing my garage of the parts and less aggrovating.

If I was to somehow sell everything, I'm looking at a few '94 Barcelona Red LSi with low mileage and close to showroom condition to replace mine. I just need to keep my head out of the gutter and when I come across these good deals.....I just need to remember that its impossible to sell them. I've had my eye on an Ebony Mica '92 LS-L with 75K thats been sitting since '97 with a bad tranny, windshield. It will need brakes, and tires from sitting. Possibly wheel bearings. I have a warm feeling it could be mine for $500 or less not to mention its within walking distance from my house. I just keep telling myself.....NO!!!!!

Thumbs up

How Bad Have You Got It??!!

Therapy maybe?

Seriously though, good luck with your future "SVX Upgrade" and you might consider a name change to "Iwanthelp".

I'd be very interested in the parts (and perhaps the '94 as well) but for two realities:

1) Distance from there to here.
2) Storage.

Could be you haven't had much interest simply because most folks don't have anyplace to keep lots of large parts, or a project/parts car.

Good luck,
dcb

The SVX is doomed to forever be in a "buyers" market. SVX's that don't need any work are becoming cheaper and cheaper and that makes it tough to sell an SVX for a decent amount of cash, esp. one that needs work. It could be that people just don't want a project car right now. Maybe when the warner weather rolls around that will change.

I for one am interested, but I lack storage space and time. As it is we don't have room for the three cars we own, and 1 of them has to stay at a relatives house

I agree it is very tough to sell an SVX. When mine was for sale twice i got alot of people who inquired about it....but no one wanted to buy it...they thought it was beautiful but didnt know what the heck it was. Lotta people except car enthisuasts wont buy it because " not everyone has them" so obviously they've heard nothing about it. I had a couple people even ask me about for the price wanting to buy it for their 17 yr old kid and i said noooo way because i knew it would get trashed. These cars have a way of getting attached to you and never wanting to leave

some things i've noticed:

SVX enthusiasts tend to be cheap

SVX owners tend to talk about their big plans, but rarely do we see results

SVX buyers like to kick the tires, but not open the wallet

these are just generalizations, and are certainly not true of ALL SVXers, but they are for most.

I like my SVX..maybe even 'love it'..if and when something goes awry it will be fixed..due to my fondness of the car..ive owned over 17 vehicles in my time on the planet and each one of them had issues that eventually needed to be addressed..there are no 'no maintenance' cars....they dont exist..the problem areas on the SVX seem to be a rather short list..ive owned the most reliable cars on the planet 'Honda' or to some 'Toyota' of course this is just opinions 'most reliable' lol my arse..they break as well and all have some parts that are beyond expensive..'Volkswagen' lmao dont get me started..I dealt with those because I liked the vehicles...buy new? they will eventually need things..and the insurance and payments, will extend well beyond that which you would end up spending on the SVX's maintenance..so you either commit to the car or not..as for me I will eventually own a second after I get my current one painted, and customized as I would like it to be..and I will include pics soon enough on its progress..

god forbid mr. claret ever gets totalled and taken away from me, but if i'm ever in the position of needing to replace it, it will be a lucky day for the person who dangles a suitable replacement for it in front of me. my checkbook will be wide open!

Mike bought the Barcelona '94 LSi. I'm not sure exactly what he is planning to do. I know he is torn between driving it and parting it out.

I'm finishing the Teal 5spd. I bought an Ebony '92 LS-L because it was so cheap I couldn't turn it down....not to mention I had a reman tranny in my basement that I drove 380 miles to get.

The parts are still taking up my garage. I used the rims/tires on the black SVX. I gave 2 perfectly good transmission cores away with good front diffs and AWD componets. I found a guy who scraps stuff for a living. He is gonna take my other good core. I didn't know what to do with them....I mean no one here wanted them for 5 cents. I'm gonna take the stuff like the hood, trunk, fenders, etc... to our annual junk day. $10/truck load.....you can't beat it.

If someone here wants to drive out and pick the transmission up...they can have it. Otherwise its going to the crapper with the rest of the invaluable junk.
