Strange find

Did anyone notice the subaru tool kit comes with a tool for changing the spark plugs? What are all of the tools that come with it? I want to be sure I have everything, I have 2 box wrenches, 1 screwdriver, 1 spark plug wrench and 1 screwdriver. Where is the tool pouch supposed to be stored in the spare tire well.

hey micheal i have a 97 . i bought spark plugs to install and looked at the idea of doing it myself. it looked tuff so i called 3 places to install them. the lowest price to install was $285. after that ive decided to do it myself. i got to get a garage to get the work done.(live in an apartment) -50 degree weather holding me up. do you have any tips on changing. i will check my kit in the trunk an list the stuff i got later today.

50 below that stinks!

P.S. that link doesn't work properly, look in the engine folder/spark plugs. Good Luck Don't get shafted for a job you can do in a couple of hours.
The dealer told me they had to lift the engine out of the car the first time I had mine done.

I just changed mine a week or so ago...its in the low 20's here..I put a space heater on top of the motor and dug in I wish I had checked the tool kit lol but I bought a few new tools to do it..just removed the airbox and the battery..only the back plugs on both sides gave some fight..its just a matter of getting in there and working with the space confinement..easily done and very rewarding..not to mention saving a bit of cash..a big bit

A friend of mine grew up near North Pole, AK. Weird guy.

As for tips, I would recommend waiting until it's warmer outside, for one. My original plugs were fine after 130k+ miles when I replaced them. No rush, then.

The plugs are a ttoal pain in the ass to replace. I had to buy a bunch of special tools and even ended up replacing a number of the boots that fit between the plugs and coils. I really do recommend waiting until you have a lot of time - it seems like such a simple thing, but you can blow a whole weekend on it if those boots stick to the plugs.

Since you live at the north pole, does that mean you don't need a tranny cooler!??

This is included in every Soob they make (well at least I can speak for 1985-1997) It also includes a pair of pliars and a short (~8-10") lug wrench. Certainly not enough to fully maintain a car, but I have used the tools. And there is once or twice where I would have up stuck without them.
