ground wires
Okay this is just a wild shot in the dark. Is there any ground wires say to the fuel pump etc. somehow attached to the rail? If there are, the bolt could have broke freeing it up. Just trying to help. Sometimes it is something stupid like that.
Good Luck |

Hey Rob, I know you and me don't really see eye to eye on..well...almost everything, but I just wanted to say, this really sucks. I hope you and your ride make out okay.

Woohooo! Alright, well that is REALLY good news. Right now I'm in Wausau, WI, and I had to rent a car to get down here (it was cheaper than the greyhound, and faster). Basically, I would have gone home, but Kristin's sister is having a baby (probably as we speak) and we wanted to see it tomorrow morning. Oh yeah, the rental car? Mitsu Galant (new one). BLECH. Spongy lame ass suspensioned gutless cheap interiored noisy windows thing. The front end looks nice though. I do admit it has some good points, its gettting insanely good gas mileage, the brakes are AMAZING, and the windshield squirters are the best squirters I've ever used; so much so that I shall acquire some for my SVX (the squirters).
Thank you all SO much for your help so far... but now the big question is who's fault is this??? I mean, I had the timing belt/waterpump/seals done about 4,000 miles ago. Am I wrong in assuming that that service should last another 60-70k miles? I don't get it. :\ Okay, but now that I'm not worried about my engine so much (just getting my car next weekend, towing it all the way home, and realigning the cams), I can now give you the goods: THE SVX IS AN AMAZING CAR. I ran into a chipped S4, and a modded S8, and the SVX could hang with both of them (not off the line, but once we were all going about 60+). I stuck with them like glue in the backroads, at speeds to about 125mph, around S curves, sharp turns, oh man, it must be like the infamous 'dragon' you guys all talk about,!!!!!!!!! I'll get the footage and pictures up as soon as possible. I'll also be needing more info on how to realign this sucker, but right now I'ma bout to go to bed; I had to get up at 5:30 this morning to see how my SVX was doing at the shop. They couldnt figure it out, so I had it towed to another shop. I hve a bunch of funny stories, you guys will love them all! Look for the "ProRally Trip From Hell" thread tomorrow. - Rob |

if it was the tensioner or bolt tensioner that broke
its no ones fault. Those things break, and they arent always changed when the belt etc is done UNLESS asked to be done by the owner at time of replacement. When mine broke, was the same scenerio. Installed a new one and went on .....

Yeah, it seems like it might be the tensioner. >sigh<

Okay, so the car is currently at a shop way up north in Houghton. When they first checked it they didn't replace the passenger side cam cover because one of the bolts was cross threaded (due to Don Miller Subaru Dealership I guess). I told them that the problem was probably the tensioner, and that they should replace it and inspect it everything.. They started working on it about 1 hour ago and called me. Apparently, the fans were crossthreaded onto the radiator, and the radiator 'neck' is cracked. This SUCKS.
I don't know what to do, I don't know if I even have a case or not, because of course those Don Miller f*cks will just keep saying "Its a high mileage car, we didn't do it". fARRRRGGGHHHHHH I swear to god I'm going to get even with them. - Rob |

Subaru dealers are horrible when it comes to working on our cars. My interior has esentailly been butchered and ruined by a careless mechanic at the dealership here. I'm slowly replacing all the missing/broken parts I've encountered.

'Yeah, but so is the fabric!' In the end, they replaced the entire interior door panel with one from a '97 they had in stock.

That's terrible. I think I'm going to avoid dealerships altogether in the future. Really, the best solution is to find a good, independent shop with competent mechanics.

They could only get the radiator through the dealer, for a price of $455.99 or something. I'm going to order one through www.subaruparts.com; but I know there's difference between the 92 radiators and hte later ones. The later ones lack the screen, so they are better correct? Also, does anyone have a discount code for subaruparts.com they would like to share?
