antenna removal/install

Got a used antenna to replace my (a crow flew into it, seriously). Question is how do I remove the old one and put the new one in. I have a complete motor and antenna assembly. It looks as if you need to take the two apart to put it in. Anyone do this before?

if you're gonna replace the whole unit, it does not need to come apart. Using some appropriate tool unscrew the part where the antenna comes up through the fender (I used an inappropriate screwdriver, held at a stupid angle against the little slots). Take off the inner fender liner in the trunk and undo the electrical connector and I think two 10mm nuts holding it on. Make sure you get the drain line hose back in it's proper place so you don't fill up the trunk during a downpour. reverse to install. Biggest hassle is getting the inner fender liner from the trunk out and back in.

If the one in the car is ok except for the mast, then it would be much easier to just switch masts. Once the retaining ring is removed, just extend the mast all the way and pull it out. Pop the replacement mast in then retract and reinstall the retaining ring and you're done.

Check out this great link on how to change the antenna:

Michael, you can do with just the mast. I just did mine last week. Part # 86322PA010. Only cost about $38 plus shipping.
