air conditioning problems

its been getting hot here in southern california. So I bought this recharge kit at wallmart. www.id-usa.com/aircond.htm I overfilled it by about half a pound. I know because as the car was running while recharging I could here the ac compressor kicking on and off i let alot out checked with the gauge it said it was good so I went driving. While driving I notice the rpms jumping about 300 while ac was on so I turned it off and let out some more. Air conditioning is now acting normal tho it feels the same as it was before also I had alot of oil spray to clean up. Do you guys think any damage was done to the compressor? also I pulled the codes by holding the auto and off buttons while turning over ignition it brong up code 13 sun load sensor it was about 85 degrees today so the sun was out sorry about the run on sentences and my bad grammar thanks for any help in advance and sorry abou my earlier posts

Good to see you back Blue. Welcome to the site, and this is where you will find out all kinds of good stuff about your car.

I don't think you did any damage. There have been other members who have overcharged their systems, let some coolant out and got normal results with the AC. It does fine after that. Lets hope that will do it for now. Sounds like it is warmer there than here.

It should be blowing cool or cold air even if the sun load sensor isn't doing what it is supposed to do. I know that I would want it to be working if it was that warm here!

It's been covered before, but just in case....code 13 gets set anytime you run the diagnostics and the car isn't either sitting with sunlight on the sensor, or with a 100watt bulb about a foor from the sensor.
