Talking Gave my SVX some TLC this week

It was a good week for the SVX. Over the course of this week I installed the ECUtune Stage 1 chip, had a Tranny Cooler installed and the A/C recharged [which I wasn't even planning on]. Then the next day my new OEM trunk struts arrived, so I put those on as well. Next I did a much needed wash and wax and was pretty happy with the results. (It's funny how happy those trunk struts make me.)

I got to top it off with a a couple nice long drives. I have a lot more work to do, but it feels good to make some progress.

About $46.00 each, plus shipping from subaruparts.com. Dealer retail is about $60.00 each

Installation is very easy. There are 2 bolts that go through the upper strut bracket into the trunklid, and 2 that go through the lower bracket into the body. Easiest if you replace them one at a time.

The OEM struts work the best as they allow the trunklid to open the full 90°

I suppose I will go that way as well. There won't ever be a way to get around it. The hood mod is a dream, better than Subaru, but bite the bullet on the trunk ones

Thanks for the #'s svxcess!

Re: Gave my SVX some TLC this week

I sprained my right wrist a few weeks ago while on Roller Blades. After that happened using the trunk with just my left hand was a real pain. I'd been wanting to have them replaced for a while and I'm sorry that I didn't replace them sooner. The lid practically floats up now and I actually have to give it a push down to shut it. Before I needed a lot of force to push it up and had to be very careful of not slamming it.

Subaruparts.com may still have the employee pricing special going on, that took $8 off each one so they were $38 each, plus tax and shipping.

Re: Gave my SVX some TLC this week

Have you guys looked for aftermarket stiffer shocks? I lately changed the ones in the Z but not OEM. Mine were shot, needed replacement (trunk lid fell on my head twice.. .nearly killed me). A guy was selling them on the other forum with the stiffness that you desire. I bought the stiffest he has (just in case I get the Nismo wing in the future).

Now I have trouble shutting it each time I open it...

Can't we source and install similar shocks for the SVX?

Contact Liberty Subaru, ask for "subaru-svx.net" pricing. Last I heard they'll take international orders... If they can't help you, send me a PM, I need to place an order soon...
