Thinned harness.....DONE! :)

Well after a week of poking wire by wire and going by the meager diagrams online I finally finished thinning out the PCM harness. Now I can drop the Eg33 into my WRX and have just the necessary wiring required to run the motor(and have output for dash tach).

This is what you end up with:

Here's a box of all the nice colored wire that I'm saving for other uses(box is 8x6x6 inches) and a plastic grocery bag full of all the unused and clipped harness connectors. the bag probably weighs in around 8-10lbs!!!

Now that this is done I can move onto the fun stuff....actually putting it in and making the SS headers to clear the WRX subframe and full undertray/skidplate

Wow! Did you happen to draw out the resulting wiring diagram?

Re: Thinned harness.....DONE! :)

Haha, no i didn't. I started by hacking off every connector that didn't go to the PCM or engine harness, then weeded out the remainder of the wires and clips that were not required including the scan ports/select monitor port. The system is simple enough to diagnose even without codes + scanner. and isn't needed.

Have you had time to hook it back up and make sure the engine starts/runs?

Not yet. The engine is still sitting in the stand waiting to go in. I was waiting for the Sti clutch/FW to arrive.
