Breaking down block of EG33

I am removing the oil separator covers on the back of the EG33 (covers which house the piston pin service hole), I managed to strip the smaller covers' screws, now seeing as these screws are incredibly tough to remove (I had to use an impact driver to get the other one off), am i left to simply drilling the cover out?

what were you using to take the screws out?

well the first time around I was using an all purpose general screw driver, which didn't provide enough torque so I ended up stripping the screws. After having talked with Lan he suggested I get an impact socket, essentially a screw driver that is activated by smacking it at the top...the impact driver did the trick but only after I screwed myself with the other cover...

ran into the same problem... relatively simple solution granted you have a welder..

Weld some hex head bolts to the top of the phillips screws. Use a wrench to turn it... Really the only other solution would be to drill them, but that would suck greatly. Why didn't ya call and ask??

Is your plate plastic or aluminum? If it's plastic, you should replace it with aluminum anyway. Break the plastic one away and then you can get to the screws with a plier/vise grips.

If you have the aluminum plate, you'll need to drill it.
