Techy's engine pull progress thread
When I'm done with this engine pull and reseal I'm hoping/planning to put together a full How-To complete with all part numbers and lots of pictures.
In the mean time I've got a whole bunch of pictures I figured I could share with you kind folks. So, here are a few pictures of what was done tonight. Some are detail pics that will be in the final writeup.

Re: Techy's engine pull progress thread
I wonder where my biggest oil leak could be coming from. It couldn't possibly be this And finally, here's the cam sprocket that I broke trying to get it off There should be another lip on the side closest to the camera

Re: Techy's engine pull progress thread
Nice set of pics. The first time pulling the engine we missed disconnecting one of the solid power steering hoses and bent it lifting the engine out.

Re: Techy's engine pull progress thread
Some more pictures. I just finished cleaning up the super-mess we created when we were pulling the motor, and then all my tools that had been thrown into one bag for a trip to U Pull R Parts. It turns out that they got a 92 SVX in about a month ago, but it was almost complete. Probably because it's been so darn cold up here until today.
It was a huge mud pit, and I ended up using the door cards as a step stool to stay above the 3" of water that was right in front of the car. Anyway, here are the pictures. First is a picture of my spoils Here's what a bit of elbow grease and a lot of noxious chemicals can do Engine mounted on the stand And here are pictures of my old motor mounts. They were completely separated, and came off the car like this:

Re: Techy's engine pull progress thread
If you wrote a writeup for removing the engine I'd love you........ no homo. Seriously because I need/want to pull the engine in my Barcelona, but not too sure where to start. Seriously please do, I really want do this, I have a plus, no ABS module in the way.

Re: Techy's engine pull progress thread
I am seeing a lackof communication to and from the ECU. The baro sensor is internal to the ECU and considering the tacho and reving issues... I can say there is def. a problem to be had w/ grounding somewhere. I'd start with the gnd on the back apss side of the intake manifold

Re: Techy's engine pull progress thread
I think it's fixed
I win the dumbass of the year award though... I said I checked that ground location, which I did, but only visually. It looked nice and tight. If I had pulled my head out of my ass and actually tightened it I would have noticed that it was just a tiny bit loose. Tightened the bolt, pulled the neg battery cable to reset things, put it back on and she fired right up. Lesson learned, trust the Toms *hangs head in humble shame* It also explains the speedo error since that is the ground location for the speed sensor. Here are a few pictures of things shined up a bit. There's a lot more detailing that can/will possibly be done, but for now:

Re: Techy's engine pull progress thread
I am just glad to hear that you got it resolved. Nothing is worse than the feeling that you total F'ed something up. It must be a big relief, and the engine looks great.
