4.11 swap weard shifting

ok so i got my 4.11 trannie in and it runs and drives great, but it keeps shifting constantly, i'll be going down the freeway down hill with out giving it any more gas at 65 it will randomly shift into third then right back out. it does this constantly regardless of gear it seems to only do it on odd speeds though like 55, 65, if you going 60 its fine, if your going 70 it's fine, go 75 and it will keep bliping back and forth with no regard to what you do unless you eather accelerate to 80 then it stops, or put it in 3 and leave it there, do i need to put a 4.11 tcu in to get it to quit, any ideas?

Two things;
-They recommend a different resistor to be used with the 4.11. This is the one behind the battery box. Do a search, if you can't find the info, send a PM to "svxfiles"

-Check your TPS

I'm not sure where it is on the leg's and mine isn't here to check. But, I'm also not sure if the leg has the resistance that Tom suggests???

ok, how do i check the tps.
i unplugged the resister and drove around for a bit it seemed about the same, but it still jumped in and out of fourth at odd speeds, do i have to adjust the tps, how do i do that on an svx?

Go to my locker and you can read up on both TPS testing and how the resistor operates.

Your problem would appear to most probably involve the TPS. Testing and setting this component, is not a highly time consuming, or particularly difficult task.

You have used good sense in running a test to eliminate the resistor from the equation.

Ditto on both. svxfile's resistor works (I have it in my 4.11 92) the shifts are a bit firmer than stock, but very clean. Also had to adjust my tps a hair to make the shifts smoother. So far Ive put about 4-500 miles on it with no mishaps (Well...had to put a new cotter pin in the end of the shift linkage.....and had a tranny line split...but no actual shifting problems)

Hey one thing to check...when the ATF gets to a certain temperature, it will allow 4th gear, but before that it will not. I remember back when I lived where there was winter, that my SVX would do this on the highway sometimes when it was really cold out.

It would drop out into 3rd for a while, then the fluid would warm up again, and back into 4th for a while until it cooled off again, then repeat the whole thing...
