Which is in and which is out, at the Trany?
Like it says, I've searched the threads and can't find what I'm looking for. I found it once before but can't find it now
My mechanic wants me to confirm which connection, AT THE TRANY, is IN, and which is OUT. There is a front connection and a back connection, does anyone have some info that can tell me which is which?

According to fig 78 on pg 102 in the tranny section of the FSM, the inlet pipe runs to the back of the tranny and the outlet is in the front. The inlet pipe is basically straight and runs the length of the tranny, the outlet pipe is an L shape. I can scan the page for you tomorrow if you need me to.

Thanks, thats what i need to know.
My mechanic wanted me to double check. Just in case. If you can scan it and we could post it in the How To's with some other diagrams for the Radiator. Then we will have the complete picture. As I searched through at least 40 threads, there was always this peice of info missing.

another way to tell
The front (outlet) pipe on the transmission has a ball bearing and spring as a one-way valve insde the banjo bolt that holds it to the tranny.

EEeeK! An unbeliever...
...in our midsts!
Clearly the long pipe to back is inlet, L-shaped is outlet. See exploded diagram @ SubaruParts.com under "transmission case" Worth a 1000 words

Nope, he's not a non-beleiver, he's just being cautious. I screwed it up, he doesn't want to screw it up too.
