I just cringed at the thought of paying property tax on 40 cars.

Must be terrible where you live. No property taxes on cars here. In fact, no personal property taxes at all and cheap real property taxes.

You could sink the $42k into an SVX, never to see it again!

Yep, that'd be my plan. Lol

You'd never see the return if you wanted to sell it, but if you wanted to keep your SVX until it's no longer feasible to drive because everyone else has flying cars and roads are obsolete then this is right up your alley!

Re: What would you buy for $42k

In over 10 years of SVX ownership I don't think I've spent $42k on them.

Re: What would you buy for $42k

I am pretty sure that 42K would buy a few things. Since Subaru won't build anything remotely like a new SVX...

Maybe a used 997 Targa 4S.

Otherwise:
1: 997 Carrera 4S cabriolet.

2: GTN Automotive targa-style hard top.

3: custom work to remove the folding cloth top, and convert the rear part of the interior over to coupe/targa configuration, and affix the GTN targa roof to the tonneau cover panel directly.

Something like this:

1992 Claret SVX. Rescued from certain destruction, and still on the road, where it belongs. Waiting for a bit of a makeover, when I can afford it.
2005 Garnet Red Pearl Legacy GT Limited 5-speed. - The late great Subaru sport touring sedan.
1999 Classic Red Miata, Preferred equipment package 5-speed. Fun, fun, fun, in the Sun, sun, sun.

That is really nice, I think the AWD Porsches are not a bad alternative to an updated SVX.

Re: What would you buy for $42k

The SVX was called an affordable Carrera 4 in 1992.

And they are somewhat similar, just with the body on backwards for one of them.

It is a matter of conjecture which one has the backwards body.

Let's nobody kid ourselves here. It's the SVX that's backwards. 60/40 weight distribution...
