Angry Crashed my SVX, BLEEP!!

Front end kissed the back of a friggin mitsubishi POS, wasnt even icy, just sandy pavement. My fault entirely, I feel frigging STUPID.

Anyways, heres a few pics..... I need opinions on what else I will be looking at replacing besides the obvious hood and lights/lightbar.

I didnt want to pop the hood until I got up to work tomorrow morning in north tahoe, just in case it wouldnt close again. Hers the best pics i could take under the low lighting conditions................

Any advice would be welcomed!

Re: Crashed my SVX, BLEEP!!

was there any frame damage? my car has been in a bad front end accident. My front frame where the radiotor hooks on is all bent back. but everything looks fine. if you didnt do anything like that. you wont need to take it to be put a on a frame machine or anything like that. just a new hood lights, is the bumper ok? or not? cause you can just sand that down and re spray it.

Thanks Earl, ill keep that in mind next time im about to purposely barrel into the back of another car

The good thing is the engine and radiator seem to be intact, so hopefully its just a cosmetic matter. I am definitely going to fix it........ I am pleading with my boss to let us skip work for a few hours so we can go down in his pickup to Carson and hit the pick and pull for the parts I need, they have 2 SVXs, both have hoods, and hopefully I can salvage a drivers side headlight and centerbar as well.

Im hoping when I do pop open the hood that I wont find the radiator support badly out of shape..... im really crossing my fingers that the crumpled hood and broken plastic took most of the impact and the body faired well enough to just bolt some new parts onto. I simply cannot believe that the bumper survived with only minor scratches, my license plate even made it through ok....
Im theorizing that the braking force applied before impact made the nose dive low enough to make the bumper slide under the little mitsubishi mirages plastic rear, otherwise im betting my airbag would have popped in my face and I would be even more pissed.

Tomorrow God willing I will get my hood and plastic parts from the wrecking yard without incident, slap them on, repaint, and show you guys a fixed car.

Doesn't look like a bad deal. If you decide to hit someone, always hit them easy!!

Looks like you did that...

Good luck on getting it back to par.

Re: Crashed my SVX, BLEEP!!

Damn! That sucks Chris! I hope you get lucky as far as the radiator support. The way the inside edge of the headlamp is pushed back doesn't look good, but these are tough cars. You'll be fortunate if the hood comes up without any drama. Glad you weren't going any faster!

Re: Crashed my SVX, BLEEP!!

F*****g damn! The front (radiator) frame is bend for sure, but it is easily fixable, dont worry, the bumper is also an easy fix, so i hope your car will look beter than b4 (your hood and bumper needed a new paint anyways )...

Re: Crashed my SVX, BLEEP!!

Ok heres what I got so far.

I removed everything in front, the lights, centerbar, side markers. The radiator support was bent back, so i used a chain and an old V-belt wrapped around it and the other end tied to a post. I left the car in neutral and just using manpower, pushed the car backwards, causing the chain to yank on the belt, pulling the support back into place It looks great! I couldnt believe how easy it went, and it looks straight again.

Now I have a small hole in my radiator, so im installing a new one, crusing down to pick n pull a little later for the left headlight, centerbar, and hood. Once I have those in place it should look almost untouched, yay!

Got to the shop at 4:30 this morning to start on it lol, couldnt sleep with this on my mind. Ill report back later on with pics!

Thanks for the encouragement guys.

That is how we do it in a real body shop too, sometimes we use a come-along for the really stubborn ones. We have a Cavalier in the shop right now that just went through that procedure, come-along and a telephone pole, much more cost effective than having a frame machine for little stuff.

I pushed my luck on that car today, the condenser was bent, but still holding a charge, I bent it back with some 2x4s and some C-clamps. I was ready to run in case it decided to spray me, but it held its charge. The owner knows, he actually asked if we could try when he found out it still had a charge. It might still have a little leak, but that can wait for summer, he doesn't have the money for a condenser and a recharge now.

Re: Crashed my SVX, BLEEP!!

Ok here it is folks

The only hood at pick n pull was from a burgundy 92, so it doesnt quite match aside from the sunfading and weathered clear coat. I cant believe I got it all to line up again from the radiator support!

I also tried to snag an AC compressor, but friggin pick n pull wanted 60 bucks for it "with an exchange if it doesnt work" but no other SVXs there so i said forget it. Ill just have to wait till someone finds a rebuild kit.

Ok so the pics of my ugly paint job but my proudly restored front end! Thanks for all the support guys, thats why I love this place.
