I am the proud new owner of a 92 LSL and new to the world of Subaru in general. ive never owned a car with a boxer engine and Im facinated with them so far. i was online looking for some pics of the engine itself and havent had much luck. Also, a friend told me that the EG33 is also used in a few Porsches? is this true? if so which porsches?

Umm I dont know about that one. There was one member working on putting an EG33 into his porsche a while back. Porsche and Subaru use the same Boxer configuration. SVX owners and Porsche owners share one thing...we both have flat six engines ( boxer 6 )

Yeah i know we both have flat 6's... it just took me while to get used to the sound of it idling... For a while i thought the engine had a knock... then someone told me they just have that mechanical noise... must be because of the cylinders being laid flat or something.

Just not used to this type of engine... All of mine have been 90* V6's and V8's

Thanks for the warm welcome! :-D

Just change your oil, drain your transmission atf and refill - and then bring your car to C'ville. Get 6 OE spark plugs from www.subaruparts.com or your dealer, and I'll do the tune up for you. How good are you at turning a wrench?

Looking at the engine from the front of the car, the cylinders are numbered:

5-6
3-4
1-2

The #1-#5 spark plugs are a breeze to replace and take ~1 hour, but the #6 spark plug can take another hour (or much longer if you damage the coil pack!)

Not true. The only car that this engine went into was the SVX. It has been put into some others after coming out of the SVX, but not installed OEM.

Sure bro, id love to see a SVX guru work on my car. Would love to see your SVX as well. Ill be sure to get the fluid and the fuel filter replaced as well. let me know when youre free and I'll be more than glad to make the trek up to hang out and tune this thing up. I know its due for one because sometimes it surges under moderate acceleration, but of course WOT is still hair-raising :-D ive gotta get that rear driveshaft and new rear dif in this week as well.... time to experience AWD lol

Yeah Im fairly good with a wrench.... been working on Fords my whole life so trust me, plenty of broken parts haha.
