Question Vapor from engine . . . . .

Recently I've been getting an odor and visible vapor upon startup sometimes. When I pop the hood I see vapor rising up and backward from under the throttle body area (or intake tube) at the rear of the engine. Goes away after a minute or two (abruptly).

Any ideas? THANKS FOR YOUR THOUGHTS!

Is the same stuff coming out of your tailpipes? Mine does this too right now due to the fact that I have an exhaust leak just before the third cat, in my case its just water vapor in the exhaust. After a minute or two the vapor stops coming from the leak point and only comes out of the tailpipes, not sure exactly why. A simple test to see what the vapor is is to watch it as it drifts off, if it dissipates within a fairly short distance, its water vapor which is normal on a cold day, otherwise its smoke. You mentioned an odor, what does it smell like?

Maybe a small coolant pipe is leaking. That's my best guess. There are coolant hoses running into and out of the throttle body.
