no power at idle???

i was reading the "you might be a ricer if" thing and i remembered that sometimes when im sitting at a light i can let off the gas and i wont move. no brake or anything it just sits there. sometimes i find myself on a hill and ill roll back when i let off the brake before i gas it.
its a nice effect and gives me very quick green light response but i cant help but think something is very wrong and broken.
perhaps the tranny is beginning to go south for the winter?

on that note im also wondering if fuel consumption increases due to the extended use of the awd and manual mode in low traction conditions.

something i forgot to mention.
every so often when it does this, it will start to rock. it will inch forward, stop, inch again, like it really wants to go.
earlier today i was sitting at a light with a very slight incline and it just kept rocking back and forth and was very apparent.
sort of relaxing actually.

Dude, I hate to say this but it sounds like your tranny... or at least your torque converter going south. Might want to check your fluid for that... ahem... unique odor of burned tranny fluid (and check the color... if it's anything other than pinkish-red then it's no good!)
