Recommendations on an all weather car cover

I will park the SVX during the coming PA winter, but the garage is not option right now, so the SVX has to be outside
Can anyone recommend a good, all weather car cover thats made to keep all elements out and also moldrew resistance???
Thanks

Re: Recommendations on an all weather car cover

I purchased the following cover last year. It is terrific.

WeatherShield HP Colors Car Cover, LG
(Part No. C13410 ,1992 SUBARU SVX,Coupe Green,WeatherShield HP
Premium Custom-Fit Car Cover)

I got it through the Auto Sport catalog. It is expensive ($200+) but it works.
It and the SVX survived last winter's snow with no problems.

However, on very windy days (like today) it can blow off the car. It has never blown completely off the SVX as the pockets for the outside mirrors hold it on. I need to get a long bungie cord to go under the width of the SVX and hook to the reinforced holes in the cover.

Good Luck.

Re: Recommendations on an all weather car cover

I tried 2 different car covers a number of years ago. They never stayed on during windy weather, even with extra bungie cords.

If you can get one of those "tempos" like most everyone in Quebec uses, that would probably be better. You can get them with doors.

Re: Recommendations on an all weather car cover

Is that any way to lock the car cover?

Can someone cut and steal it?

My bike's cover was stolen or blown off by the wind?
I could never find it in the apartment parking lot again.

Rent a storage? $60 x 4 ? During the winter.
Always inside. Guarantee safe.

Costco sells a four layer car cover for $34.00 which might work. I use mine for when my SVX is in the garage so I do not have any experience if it is suitable for outside use. It does allow one to lock the cover on via running a cable thru the grommets.

Wolf Noah Series. They make a custom-fit one for the SVX. I highly recommend it!

When I look up a cover for a 92 both custom and universal covers come through as discontinued.

Re: Recommendations on an all weather car cover

I was surfing on ebay several weeks ago and was lucky enough to find a used, SVX-specific car cover manufactured by Technalon. So far I'm really happy with it. It has protected my SVX for two wind storms and one snow storm so far, with no ill results!

As for the other brand that is discontinued, I would suggest giving the company a call and verifying over the phone that the SVX covers are truly discontinued. They might say so on their website because the SVX is sort of rare.

Re: Recommendations on an all weather car cover

Be aware that a cheaper cover will more than likely abrade the surface of the vehicle in high wind if not a snug fit. Be sure it has some type of flocking on the back that won't do this. SunForger fabric is a good choice. The downside to a snug fit of course is moisture retention, so it has to breathe. Make sure the car is spotless when you put the cover over it as well. This may sound like overkill, but experience is the best teacher. As one who makes covers for boats,I can tell you an owner of a 200.000.00 boat would go ballistic if his cover scratched his gelcoat. Hope this helps.
