svx engine swap into a forester?
i have a 98 forester at my disposal. it had a fire in the engine compartment, melting some of the wiring, the fuse box, brake fluid resevior, etc. my question is, how hard would it be to swap in an eg33? i know the tranny will bolt up, but what would need to be done to do this? can the parts from the svx that melted in the forester be swapped into the forester?
im just wondering what kind of work this would take and what kind of fabrication/special parts would be needed. thanks for any help!

Re: svx engine swap into a forester?
There was a 98 Forester for sale here a while back that had an EG33 and 5MT swapped into it. It'll take a bit of shoe-horning, but shouldn't be too bad.

Re: svx engine swap into a forester?
That would be pretty good for a forester.
H6 power and torque, 50% bias AWD with the 5MT, especially with a 4.11 or so final drive and limited slip diffs installed... I never really got why Forester and Baja never got H6 power, with cooled transmissions and bigger WRX or LGT spec brakes. Even if were EZ-series H6 power... They are practical vehicles that might actually be used to haul or pull modest things from time to time. Not 5th wheel trailers or anything, but a bass boat, Jet skis, a motorcycle trailer, or other utility type stuff... |
