If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had misspelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoes as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If George W.. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 24 months -- so you'll have one year and ten months to come up with an answer.

I don't want to get into this. Hell I'm a Canadian, afterall. But when you inherit the biggest financial mess the U.S. has probably ever experienced, add in two very expensive and "unnecessary" wars brought on by pretty much every president that preceded him, and what do you expect.
The U.S. economy is a major disaster, brought on by politicians who are more concerned with being re-elected than doing what is right for Americans. And, although the Canadian economy is a little better, we're not that far behind you.
American politicians and their blind followers have to stop fighting with one another and start doing what's needed to save your economy.
Obama didn't cause this, he simply inherited it.

To use an analogy: Imagine getting married to someone who brings into the marriage a huge debt. But you love that person enough to tackle the problem together. The day after you get married, you discover that your spouse has a deadly illness that, because you don't have health care in the US, is going to cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars to treat. You go into debt. You claim bankruptcy. In other words you are screwed. Is that your fault??????

Obama DEFINITELY caused the huge and rapid increase in the national debt and deficits. His party was the major (not only) contributor in the financial mess caused mostly by the housing debacle.

Back to your analogy---you marry her and love her so much that you give her all of your credit cards. She runs out and runs them all to the limits and then goes down and borrows money against your house and business and goes and and lavishes the proceeds on all of her former friends and relatives (half that do not work) and several old boy friends. And she talks you into withdrawing all of you 401K. That is where we are.

It would be your fault if you considered to buy cars and other expensive items thinking that by doing this you will get out of debt. Not only buying cars, but houses, beach property and other expensive items that cost 10 to 20 times the cost of the health expenses and think that is ok.

Obama has spent more money than any other president in history! When he started, the debt was 10 trillion and now it is almost 15 trillion. How is that trying to pay your bills?

You missed the analogy. Your economy is so sick that you have to take extreme measures to save it. Sometimes you don't have a choice. I don't agree with everything Obama did but the patient was redlining and everyone was standing around with their thumbs up their butts wondering what was happening.
You should be angry at the political group that made your economy so sick. Instead, you misplace your anger against the person who happens to be given the task of trying to save it. Whether you agree with the remedies or not, your blame is misplaced. Would you blame the doctor after he failed to save your dying spouse? Are you going to blame the japanese nuclear workers who are volunteering to attempt to shut down the reactors when they fail. Don't blame the people who caused the problem (That's big business) blame the little guy putting his life on the line to solve the problem.

However, I'm under no illusion that extreme right wingers will ever take the blame for the mess they have created not only in their own country but worldwide.

Start thinking for yourself instead of drinking the tea.

You are long on vitrolic expletives and devoid of facts. IF even half of them are true, it is infinitely worse than anything you libs wouldn't let die on Bush. As to economic policies--you are far out in left field like the most of the people that caused the mortgage collapse. AND as I said, where the Demos are largely responsible, there is much blame to put on the Repubs as well. Only term limits will solve some of these problems within both parties. Read the NY Times (extremely liberal press) 1999 article and see for yourself on some of it. THEN, review what the Bush administration TRIED to do to rein in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac along with other financial instutitions and were blocked by a Democratic Congress.

Most of the list is FACTUAL and supported by actual reporting in the press or observed on national TV. If you are able to prove that more than 2 or 3 are misinterpreted or reported, I would be extremely surprised. But, I challenge you to try.

It's not annoying if you stay out of the political forum. Those that come to this forum do so by choice knowing that it will be political and probably controversial.
