Door glass

Is it possible to remove the door fixed glass and replace.
I have bought a replacement door for our svx and the new door has the wrong tint. Is it possible to smash the glass and replace with my tinted glass from my original door...

Please help asap....

Re: Door glass

I would get in contact with a safelite auto glass to see if they could do it for you. I am pretty sure they are glued in, it could be done with the right tools. If you felt the need to do it yourself practice on the replacement door, then do your car.

Re: Door glass

I have taken them out before they are a *****. They are Velcro'd in then glued. I am not sure if the glue needs to be softed with heat first or not, but it was pretty hard to cut through. I'm sure it can be done by a good glass guy though.

Re: Door glass

Mine was loose on my '92 and I couldn't find a glass shop that would touch it. I re-glued it myself.

Re: Door glass

What colour is it supposed to be ?
My other parts car might have the right colour.
The other car is black/silver (apparently previous owner was Kevin Black RIP)
Does the trim code tell you the tint colour ?
