Re: need specification on the eg33
the eg33 is all EJ22 internals
EJ25 is a stroker version of the EJ22 so pistons/rods are the main difference

Re: need specification on the eg33
I just confirm what Im saying, the rod of the ej207 and ej257 are the same length of the eg33 rod(130,5mm) and journal look like the same
But If i want to run the ej25 piston yeah I have to sleeve it but this is not what I want. the only thing im not sure is on a n/a setup, the sti rod is that much stronger than the eg33 oem? |

Re: need specification on the eg33
I was able to score a set of 6 take-out rods for like $100. They are cheap enough, and are known to hold quite a bit of power. Unless the EG rods are the exact same as some EJ rods, we don't know how much power the EG rods are good for, just because not enough people have blown up EGs yet for us to know that. But if you search impreza forums, you will find some different numbers given for the sti rods ~400hp. And that's only 4 of them. That means that in the EG33, 6 sti rods ought to be good for around 600hp = waaaaaaay more than I am shooting for, and you too probably.

Re: need specification on the eg33
OEM subaru rods don't tend to fail ever. If there is a failure from the rod it is because of the OEM rod bolts, however ARP rod bolts fix that issue. The pistons fail long before the rods even come close.

yeah, like you said 600hp is a way to much! I probably gonna use sti rod just to play safe! |

Re: need specification on the eg33
sort of in the same vein, does anyone know the difference between the eg33 combustion chamber and the ej207, and DOHC ej25 engines?
ie: on a sleeved and bored eg33 could you use off the shelf ej25 pistons? |

Re: need specification on the eg33
They are almost the identical CC volume. The most important thing will be to have the head deshrouded to match the bore of the cylinder and making sure the headgasket matches the bore also. After that compare the STi piston to the SVX piston for pin height and valve reliefs.
