transmission fluid level a bit high

I think that my transmission is dripping some fluid on the exhaust. under the car, not next to the motor. Recently had the pan gasket replaced. In looking for the source I noticed that the transmission is a bit overfilled. Dip stick reads over 1/2 inch over the full mark. Could this be the problem somehow? What other perils could result from too much transmission fluid?

Re: transmission fluid level a bit high

Double check you are looking at the correct 'full' mark (cold and hot).
