Re: hard starting when cold

I didn't know there were two. I replaced the one that is Brown w/2 wires attached. Where is the other one compared to the Brown one and what color is it? Do you have a photo of both in the engine?

You replaced the correct one. Have a good look at the wiring near the CTS, look for any fraying/cracks/breaks in either wire at all. Might be a problem with the wiring to this sensor if replacing it didn't resolve the issue.

The other CTS has only one wire and threads into the coolant crossover pipe right next to the one you changed.

The wires are definitely a good place to check. That area is quite popular among "critters" looking for a warm place to hang out and chomp on wires.

Re: hard starting when cold

I think if the wiring was attacked by a rat pack, you would have a code.
No code?

Harvey.

Re: hard starting when cold

A couple of my SVX's have had cold- start problems and it's always been remedied by replacing the temp sensor. Could this situation be caused by leaky fuel injectors causing the engine to flood and not start right away after it's been sitting, especially overnight? I've had other cars (not SVX's) that had that problem.
