Re: HID lights

Basically, 55w = high beams, 35w = low beams

DDM site says:

"Due to the power of the 55W ballast, the output is slightly washed out as seen above.
The most popular color we sell is 6000k. That would be described as white with a hint of blue.
For maximum visibility, we would recommend staying within 4500K-6000K."

So running a 6k blub on 55w ballasts will wash out some blue the color and look more white.

I have 55w DDM ballast, mine looks like this one:

We think that the bulbs are 5K. but we are not sure, there are no markings.
Either way, once they are fully powered, there is no hint of color, they look white.

That silverstar in the video is a modified 9005 high beam light in my low beam socket, and the 55w HID is MUCH brighter.

Re: HID lights

I think I will stick with what I have 55W 6000K low beam .
Now I have to find a good place to order them from and wait till the weather warms or find a heated garage. Just removing the old ballast and putting in the reg. bulb i froze my hands off.

That's the shift resistor for the automatic transmission.

I remember mounting the ballasts under the head lights. Like inside the bumper. I dont think I moved them.
If you follow the wire back from the bulb you'll get to two connectors where you can unplug the bulb. Keep following the wire back to the ballast.

You should probably send that to OT. He's been short on those because no one sends the cores back to him.

Ahh. That's an easy mistake to make. They do look very similar. The 55W ballasts do have a "Fluff" setting, too!

Re: HID lights

Ok so now that you beat me up enough. Good place to get them? What bulb (h 1) ? I went to the DDM tuning web site , they say the 55 w washes blue out of the 8000K. Still think 6000 K is the way I am leaning towards getting. Any one else have a suggestion of we're to order from?

35 W are more then enfue. Thats thats in there now. 5000K or 6000k
The kit for my wife's car I got from subimods there like $75 and they work great. The bulbs for the SVX are 9005/9006.

Re: HID lights

55w bulbs are for high beams, stick with the 35w ones.

Conn, if your looking at the DDM site, and you want blueish lights, these are the options.

DDM KIT FOR SVX w/ mounting brackets option (+$4) $34:

DDM SLIMLINE FOR SVX $40:

35w, 9006 bulb, 6000k
Both are lifetime warranty.
Slim ones are slimmer and the ballast attaches with sticky tape.
Raptor ones are chunkier, but offer a mounting bracket option.
