I have a question about the 2 alternator plug wires that get lengthened and put under the manifold.

There 2 different gauges of wire. What are the gauges? Can they be upgraded to a larger size?

The gauge is not too important, as they just carry signal voltage and not a lot of current. In fact, the replacement plugs have both wires the same size. 12 gauge stranded wire is sufficient.

Page 4 of the wiring upgrade gives you what you need.
Having tried the KnuKoncepts Ring Terminals, I found the Streetwires Power Rings to have a much better construction and work better electrically. Heavier gauge set screws.

For a really secure electrical connection, you can't do better than the Streetwires Inter-Lok Power Rings. Compression-type fitting, tightened with a wrench instead of set screws.

Re: Altinator MOD.V4 Supplies?

anyway i will work on my spelling but i would like to beat a dead horse on this altenator mod...
i plan in replacing postive post too.
here i posted on this before here. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...ttery+terminal

anyway when the mod is done i will have 3 cables connected to the postive battery terminal?
1. of them being the 4 gauge knukoncept wires coming from the altinator
2nd wire wire coming down from the fuse box? 3rd one
then the one that get runs from the wiring harness?
so my question is the one that comes from the harness goes to the middle of connector of the new battery terminal. I noticed that there is not a lot of wire there to play around with on the harness. then the other 2 wires where the bolts on the new postive post.
can i put power rings on the postive post one from the 4 gauge wire and the other on the one from the fuse box?

Good point if one is doing a search, and that is the thread name.

Here i posted on this before here post too.. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...ttery+terminal

When the mod is done i will have 3 cables connected to the positive battery terminal?

1st wire being the 4 gauge knukonceptz wire coming from the alternator through the MegaFuse

2nd wire is then the one that get runs from the wiring harness?

3rd wire goes to Fusebox.
I would not use the power rings to terminate the wires, but 4 gauge copper battery lugs instead.

The clamp is military-spec and is quite well-made and resists corrosion, Also made of Brass for marine environments

Add one wire to each side as shown or clamp 2 of them on the same side. This gives you a lot of versatility and flexibility to run multiple wires compactly where room is tight, I have used these before without problem/ Just keep all your main harness and fusebox connections on the side of the battery and only the single alternator wire attached to the top.

Available HERE

You can use separate locations to attach cables by using battery side mount screw-in terminals. Same electrical connection.

I plan on redoing mine with those brass Battery lugs. I noticed my filed down power ring on the alt is already looking pretty nasty.

Re: Altinator MOD.V4 Supplies?

here are some pics from my upgrade, I upgraded my cable that went to the starter as I did not like the corrosion and the state of that wire.
Now you will see that as of yet I do not have the mega fuse that is soon on my list.

A pulled back view to see everything.

The engine ground, you can see it a little in the previous pic too.

a few months ago my positive terminal broke and I needed something in a hurry this was the only one available at the store I went to, it works nice and for this application is perfect but its too expensive and overkill really.

As mentioned earlier I used some of the koncepts cable for starter cable here is a pic

And here is a pic of the connection at the alt, this is using a 1/4 battery lug connector so I did not need to file it down.
