Solenoid C - change in mid 1990's ?

Apologies for a potential re-post, but I remember having seen a posting related to a part number change of the solenoid C some time in the mid -90's. After extensive searching I still can not find the thread.

If I recall correctly, the operation of the sol C was reversed and this was combined with a change in the controls.... does this ring any bells or have I been dreaming (again) ?

I have 4.444 tranny from a 1997 Outback and some weird binding issues (which do go away by inserting the FWD fuse).

Thanks,

Tapani

I guess that your car is not a VTD, but 4ACT as you have a FWD fuse. Only the VTD transmissions had a change of C solenoid with the 95 model. The 4ACT transmissions have not changed the C solenoid, it was always a NC solenoid.

It could be a bad solenoid but I have seen center diffs freed up with simple addition of Lubegard to fresh ATF. It is worth a try.

Ok, great. Thanks for your message. And yes, mine is a US spec car.
