Re: Another one, intermittent hesitation.

It's a brand new optima red top.

I have no way to find out what my TPS is set at. I've, so far, adjusted it by feel and believe I'm either dead on or not far enough off for it to be an issue.

It's getting amazing throttle response though, at least sitting in the garage. As soon as you drive it, it falls on its face off the line a lot of the time. Or some times driving around slow if you give it a small amount of gas it'll just bog. When it comes out of it, it'll usually turn the tires over.

Other times from a dead stop, it accelerates flawlessly and very strong. The issue truly is intermittent.

Re: Another one, intermittent hesitation.

This sounds like your TPS is bad, Did you actually take it out and test it according to how it is shown in the HOW-TO Docs or just try adjusting it? The only way to find out if your TPS is truely bad or good is, a)swapping in a new one or one from a car that is known to be good or b) removing the current TPS and testing it.

Re: Another one, intermittent hesitation.

all you need to test it is a digital multi meter or a really cheap one from walmart for like 10 bucks that does DC voltage. I had some hesitation issues and changed plugs, o2 sensors, added the ground upgrades, etc and most of it went away when i set my TPS to .5v

TPS adjustment in SUPER sensitive i could have it snug and lightly tap it and move it .02v at a time. I had a hard time adjusting it loose though.

Re: Another one, intermittent hesitation.

I can't get a reading off my TPS with my multi meter.

I can't pierce the wire I guess, my prongs are apparently too wide. Is there any way I can adjust it by ear, engine response? So far I can tell it's hyper sensitive, if it moves even an amount I can't see, it drastically affects how the engine is running.

After I adjust it, I unhook the battery for 15 minutes. Hook it back up. Let it idle for 10 minutes, then restart it.

The more I mess with it, the better the car is running... So apparently I'm getting some where. Hesitation seems to be unchanged, regardless though.

Re: Another one, intermittent hesitation.

take a very small/thin paper clip and slide it up into the connector along side the white wire. It will slide right up into the foam like seal. Plug it back in and use the positive on the paper clip and the neg on the battery terminal.

Re: Another one, intermittent hesitation.

I'll go try that right now, I'll let you know when I get back, thanks!

Haha, I had it at 0.528 adjusting by ear. I set it to 0.504 (closet I could get to 0.500).

I'm thinking this might not be my problem.

Re: Another one, intermittent hesitation.

I think I may have solved my hesitation problem... Or at least discovered the problem.

This is the 1st night in weeks it hasn't been in the 90s and my car was running flawlessly tonight. No hesitation, great power, etc. Through multiple restarts and everything.

I guess the car just doesn't like excessively hot weather. Earlier today in the heat it was being a real pain to drive around town.

Couple things.... you should check the actual temperature of the engine at the CTS with a laser or infrared thermometer to make sure its not overheating. Also, if im not mistaken, the MAF senses air temperature as well as flow, that could be suspect still if ambient temp changes how it runs.

Re: Another one, intermittent hesitation.

Well it the engine doesn't "seem" any hotter than usual. It's pretty obvious if one is overheating enough to matter. I was thinking along the lines of minor vapor locking.

I guess I could try cleaning the MAF again. You just spray straight through it with MAF cleaner, correct?

I read the MAF cleaning-How-To and noticed it mentioned you should get a CEL at some point. Never once have I got a check engine light except for when I ran the car with the temp sensor unplugged.

I just wanted to make a note that my hesitation problems are gone. No idea why but they just disappeared. 2nd day in a row I haven't had even the slightest problem.

Re: Another one, intermittent hesitation.

Could also try some water wetter to try and drop your Coolant temp a few degrees. Make sure you change the ratio though, no need for 50/50 with water wetter.
