Anyone work for Michelin?

Holy carp I just took their "entrance exam"
It was 182 questions online - SAT style math/verbal/etc. and some that were psyche evaluation.
Wow. Never seen an employer do that.

My cousin works for them i'll have to ask how he did on the test. He's book smart but common sense stupid so it might be interesting to see how he did! As an unemployable college student, i've never had to take a test as part of the many job application processes i've been thru but then i'm only looking for entry level stuff until i finish my degree (just 2 more semesters!) I did have to do a survey about job ethics at a cocktailing job i applied for but apparently i didnt do well b/c i didnt get a call back

They just announced, or I just heard it, but Michelin is pulling out of F1. Don't know if they are staying in the WRC or not.

I hadn't heard. Is anyone replacing them in F1? Maybe if they pull out of F1 and WRC, they won't cost $40 more a tire then their competition now. I wouldn't put Michelins on my car if they were free.

I am IN!

One hell of a few weeks. New baby last week, new job this week.
wow
they actually are giving me a signing bonus.

I was off last week with the baby, and am off so far this week. (wife can't lift anything heavy so I'm home helping)
My boss gave me a hard time about taking 2 weeks out so I told him I'd only take half of this week I think I'll call him today and tell him I won't be in until friday and then come in only to put in my 2 weeks notice. Maybe he will get mad and fire me

I really hope they throw me out instead of making me work it. It'd be nice to have some more time off to spend with the new baby.

It is very tempting to tell him to SMB, but I think I'll go out gracefully. I kinda feel bad since they gave me a huge raise 3 weeks ago.

They make tractor trailer tires there. Only plant that makes the x-one - that fat tire that replaces duallys

Delayed response.

No, nobody is replacing Michelin in F1. The FIA wants control over the tires, which means a single manufacturer. Bridgestone has been named as that manufacturer.

The FIA actually wanted to switch to a single tire manufacturer for 2008, but Michelin announced they'd pull out at the end of this season in protest. They didn't even apply for the spot.

Thanks for the reply Paul. I say good riddence to the cocky frogs. Thier tires are overpriced anyway.

To immortal_suby, congrats. I wouldn't work for them, but if this is the time and place that helps you and the new baby out, then good for you. Maybe you'll get picked up a few years down the road for more cash somewhere else.
