Fiberglass is for fenders, not bodies. Does someone make a glass Dodge body?

I just remembered my signature, DUHHH. I guess it's OK to use SOME fiberglass bodies. ( unless you have useable steel)

PS no Allegany Power truck yet, (drumming fingers on table when I could be welding)
We set up the shop today. assembled all equipment, stretched all wires and hoses out to remove kinks, set up some shelves, put in a temporary workbench, pulled the weeds from in front of the shop, sat and waited for the power company, etc,etc,etc...

I have not done anything to the cars this year, except take a rusty street rod down to bare metal, prime it and take it to the BEST SHOW on the east coast in primer and fenderless! 79 gallons of latex later, I get to work on some cars!!
I thought that I might have exagerated how much latex I have bought this year.... so I counted the cans and such that still grace 'ground ZERO'...
As of tonight, the 'remaines' tally 76 gallons, and I have thrown away a LOT of cans!! The most recent tally..... 94 gallons!
I guess I need to buy 6 more gallons, so I can set a new record that will stand for the rest of my life!
Since I am not a contractor and own all the buildings that recieved the paint and will NEVER paint ALL of them again in the same year, I am sure that I will NEVER buy that much paint again! BUT, I did it this year!!!
I have never bought over 25 gallons in a year before.

It felt good at the time, but made my back HURT!!!

99 gallons of paint on the walls, 99 gallons of paint! Take one down and pass it around.... as the song goes....

I need to buy ONE more gallon. Even if I pour it on the GROUND!!!

New- new project..trike/mower

I have a 1964 model 7 hp, 4 speed riding tractor that has been a good one. The 32 inch deck is still good, BUT the front end is shot. I have had to put the entire axel assembly back on to get it to the shed many times.
Enter a Kawasaki 124cc dirt bike with a blown engine and no rear suspension. Add a PLASMA cutter, mig and BEER.

The only questions on the project is " How much 'rake' does it need to still cut grass, Should I use the bike gas tank and should it have a 2 hump seat and a sissy bar?"
Look, Ma! My new TRIKE!

It will be blue with flames.

(All units are setting at the door of the welding shop)

About 6 additional DEGREES!! deck 'ride height' is the same as before. ( Yea, I DONE DID IT!) I think I'll add the motorcycle exhaust, headlight and fuel tank. I am looking for the 2 hump seat now, but will build a frame and have daughter upholster it if I don't find one before paint time.
Only prob I see is (with the extended wheelbase), it tends to bottom out sooner on humps and doesn't cut as close on dips.
I think if I extend the travel on the deck and mount rollers on the back, those issues will go away.
I slid the 'tubes' up about 7 inches, so I can move the front wheel up or down to get the desired effect. It looks so good that when I went to work yesterday, I left it in the driveway so the neighbors could 'marvel' ...

Gas tank and handlebars installed. Might have to put a SNOWBLADE on it to play this year!

Spent some 'quality time' with the trike today.

It's now on the GMC, heading for the car wash to remove 44 years of grime and grass clippings.

I welded some supports from the bike part to the mower part, modified the chamber from the bike and hooked it to the Briggs, ( sounds sweet), cut the bike front fender down and bolted it back on, figured out the seat, will be using the Kawasaki seat. I'm trying to find the 58 Chevy taillight that I KNOW is here somewhere.

I figured out how to make the highway pegs work and came up with a plan to use the bikes 'juice' brakes, (instead of the rod set up that is on it)

I'm trying to find the 58 Chevy taillight that I KNOW is here somewhere.

I figured out how to make the highway pegs work and came up with a plan to use the bikes 'juice' brakes, (instead of the rod set up that is on it)
As I was hauling the trike with me on my monday duties, I stopped at the carwash and knocked all the grime off. I was approached by a guy that had the obvious question in mind, " does it still mow grass"??

I showed him the 'travel' of the deck, and he replied, " SWEET"!

I then hauled it to svxfiles house , where my tow dolly was resting. He looked at it and said. "sweet" ( or something like that).

I went to the first tow job and my buddy Scott, ( that had given me some really fine galvanized pipe), NOTICED that 3 pieces of his pipe were welded into the trike! He said, " you said you were going to use it"' SWEET!!

I next, towed Scotts car to the planet MRAF for a head gasket job and while I was unloading it, My partner Dan, ( who had not seen the trike yet), started laughing, and said " SWEET"!!

Dan also stated that, " with a mower like this, everyone will want to cut the grass", ...
I told him that, THAT'S what it is FOR!!!!

Today, it has ( not counting the chrome or polished aluminum), 8 colors of paint on it. I am going to paint it blue, and flame it, but leave all the alum and chrome alone.
It will be trimmed in white, because the 12 pack cooler that I am going to bolt onto the back is blue and white and I don't know how to make paint stick to a cooler.

I started it, (on a prime, to see how it sounded with the 2 stroke chamber on it) and it was so quiet that I decided to mount a radio under the Kawasaki seat and hide a speaker in the piece of vented plastic that bolts to the gas tank. It used to keep the mud off of the electrics( when it was a moto-crosser), but now , it just covers a lot of empty air..
I had to raise the fork tubes to allow more travel for the deck. I made the front 'ridged', but left the rear end flex so it would have less trouble with the uneven geometry of the planet MRAF.

The deck mounts are slotted, which allows for 3 inches of travel without the operator doing anything. For greater deviations on the mowed surface, the operator has the ability to raise the deck about 4 inches.

This is a WONDERFUL project to test out all the new equipment on!!!

I have just made ready, the next project..
I hauled a 93 Dakota frame home that needs modified to fit under a 49 studebaker 4 dr sedan.

The Stude needs to be running by the 4th of July!

I sure hope I run out of home improvement projects so I can actually work on motor vehicles soon!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

We just got back yesterday from 4 days of listening to old rock-n-roll , loud cars and tires frying!

Amie's SVX was too new to make the cut, so we took the 47 Dodge pick-up.

On her birthday, I put a lawn chair on the truck bed and hauled her all over the fairgrounds. All the people that knew her came over and gave her a hug.
Flash, the pinstriper has done a t shirt for her every year since she was 1. This year, it has a 32 ford coupe street rod coming straight at you, with " 16 YEARS" across the top.
The 440 has been de-tuned to run on pump gas for so long that I had forgotten how much fun it really was. I stopped at the local speed shop and picked up 5 gallons of 110 octane and set the timing back up.
On the first pass, it coughed a little, then burned the tires for over 175 feet!
The croud LOVED it! (There were about 1000 people in the stands)
I went through 2 sets of tires in 2 days. They were dry rotted, but had almost new tread. I only made 6 passes total, but they were 'smokin' to the end' runs. SVXfiles son rode along on the last trip! We only burned them for 185 feet.
Since the truck will be painted this winter and it was our 35th year for the show, I handed out majic markers to everyone and had them 'sign' the Dodge. I counted 200 signatures on the front end and drivers door. No doubt, the final count will be in excess of 700! I will take pics of the truck from all angles and put them in another album. I did it 10 years ago and had the album with the truck so the people could look for their name!

We came home sunburned, tired, smelling like tire smoke, but VERY HAPPY!
When we got all the gear stowed, coolers unpacked, etc, we settled down to watch a movie and eat some birthday cake!
