Anyone have theirs die on them?

Mine started making noise yesterday and today it won't turn at all.

It's not spring outside here yet and I still need to use the heater to stay comfortable.

It's not one of the things the climate control checks for errors although I did run through the self test with no errors.

Maybe someone will have a spare I could get from them.

Hi Dave,

I do not know how similar the 91 Legacy blower motor is to the SVX blower motor but I fixed my 91 Legacy blower. I disassembled the blower, pulled the brushes and armature out. Then I stuck the armature in a drill clamped to a bench and spun it. I used a file to clean-up the commutators and reshape the area where the brushes make contact. Then I used an exacto knife to clean out the slots between the commutators bars. I used the old brushes and it's been working fine. I think it will last another 10 years.

The copper bars where very thick and cleaned up nicely. I doubt if a newer design is made with all that thickness.

They are really simple to clean up and bring back to life. Follow John's advice but I'll add to have you check the bushings/bearings (can't remember which it has) for drying out. Mine were pretty dry and a little cleaning and oiling and I was back in business. I was able to keep using the old brushes as well.

That was three years ago and it is still blowing strong.
