Houston, we have AWD!

With many thanks to Tom (SVXFiles) for all his help, my SVX is now in full AWD mode!!
The Solenoid C was indeed the culprit - we found evidence that this is at least the second Solenoid C this trans has seen (not surprising, given the car now has 186k on it). Having the car up in the air also gave me the chance to change the filter internal to the transmission (don't be surprised if the parts guy/gal asks you which filter your SVX needs - play it safe and buy both of them, then return the one that doesn't fit - it comes down to the shape of the flat body, NOT the size of the tube that goes up into the trans). The entire effort took Tom and myself (with a little help from my son Austin) the better part of 4 hours. (FYI - it took 8 QTs to fill the trans back up) It would have been a total PITA if we hadn't had Tom's lift.
The roughly 3 hour drive back home through the "mountains" of Maryland was a blast in AWD! Accelerating up fairly good inclines felt very solid and the trans is behaving like it's brand new (it has been doing this since Tom used his Select Monitor to adjust the TPS).
I've got pictures in my locker of the installed Solenoid C and the pawl that locks the trans when you put the trans in P).
-Bill (finally feeling ready for the dyno runs!)

That's awesome Bill. To gain awd again is definitely a great feeling that I've experienced!!!

I can't wait to run on the dyno on Wednesday as well...

Chike,
If you look at the one picture that has "Solenoid C" in its title, the solenoid C is the piece at the top of the picture with the red wire coming out of it. It actually comes with a valve body (which you'll see a small (maybe 1/4 inch) tube going into the center of.

We were running way late for a bunch of reasons, rusted bolts, 270 was a one lane parking lot, it's 5:something, my manditory FORMAL DINNER is in an hour, and I'm up to my elbows in grease, Bill hasn't left yet and he's in trouble for not picking up his daughters, we add the fluid, I've got the engine running, first gear, everythings ok, second gear, everythings fine, third gear still working, drive, it's good. Neutral, Oh oh, hey Bill, I've got an orange light on the dash!!!

The wheels stop turning, the engine is still at 3000rpm, his wife is going to kill him.

Itwas the neutral light.

yes....I could have killed him at that moment (j/k) ....lucky he's such a naturally funny guy..

Jessie - nice new Avatar! -- wish I could get back to the track, but all the tracks in MD are closed for the season - I don't think they'll be opening back up until around March....which leaves plenty of time for other "stuff" (can you say 245/45-16 R-Comp Hoosiers on all four corners? I thought you could....)
