Re: Quarter panel replacement.

I'd recommend cutting and patching personally.
To replace the entire quarter panel, it includes removing the rear glass, rear, upper fixed glass, and drilling out the couple hundred spot welds, among other things... Though, it should be a better repair technically.

Re: Quarter panel replacement.

Your call, but getting a hold of quarter panels might be difficult, I don't know what Subaru's stock looks like for those. I lucked out and snagged a set that another member was getting rid of. I'll be replacing almost the whole panel on mine and patching the wheel well underneath. Reasons being that I'm anal, and that I'm pretty sure the lower sections of the panel that hides below the bumper and side skirts look like the Titanic on the ocean floor.

The patch would be cheaper, faster, less scary, and if the workmanship is good just as solid as changing the whole panel. Like Nate said, the whole quarter panel is a huge chunk of metal:

My plan is to follow the factory joints along the bottom and door jamb, but cut off the window frame and weld underneath the plastic garnish piece. Doing it this way keep almost all the welds (except the back one under the tail lights) hidden under something.

Re: Quarter panel replacement.

Couldn't resist checking Subaruparts.com:

$316.79 + shipping, not in stock but "usually ships in 4-10 days."

I'd have guessed way, way more.

Re: Quarter panel replacement.

I know, they're actually very reasonable for the size of part you're getting. Buying all four quarter panels and fenders will only set you back ~$1000+ shipping.
