My car stalled and died

Came out from a roundabout and started a small hill climb, engine cut off and all indicators/lamps lit up, just as they do when you turn on ignition but do not crank the engine (when starting).

Restarted it, and managed to back up for about 200m. Died again. Managed to restart it and land in front of my garage. Pushed the car for 1 1/2m so it doesn't block neither neighbour or traffic. I'm off to Sweden now but can deal with this issue tomorrow.

I might have heard some coughing before it stalled. My main suspicion is either out of gas (i thought i'd make it home, lamp had been on for about 70km. or flat battery.

I will pour some gas tomorrow. There was still light, alarm is working. Can the battery still be "daed" ?

When I pushed the car i had to turn the wheel. It locked.

How do I unlock it?

I didn't try too hard but apparently i can't turn the key anymore?! Any clues?

Ya they run better with gas. You have a gas pump at home?

To turn the key hold the tension off the steering wheel lock by turning the wheel slightly left and right.

Re: My car stalled and died

I believe it was probably a gas problem as well. 70km is about 43 miles with the light on.

As for unlocking the steering wheel and ignition lock, turn the wheel in the same direction as you were before it locked and hold it there. This will relieve the tension on the ignition lock and allow you to either remove the key or unlock the wheel so you can turn it manully.

Re: My car stalled and died

Mine did that 3 times before I replaced my MAF . Sounds exactly the same way mine acted. Always did it when I turned the wheel. Backed out of a parking space. Going around a corner. After it cools down for 5 min it started right up.

You replaced the MAF because you ran out of gas 3 times?

Re: My car stalled and died

No my car stalled and all the lights came on and it refused to re start right away. Why do you think he is out of gas? I do not read where he says anything about the gas gage being low .you know what ASSUME Means right. Except leave Me out of it.

Re: My car stalled and died

Nope still not on the 1st post... He said he suspect he may be out of gas. You read it again.. Unless he posted it some place else...ok sorry I see where he mentioned the indicator light on for 45 miles.

Anyway, learn to take a dang joke... Your anger apparently impairs your comprehension and reading skills.

Re: My car stalled and died

Rather than charging batteries, pop the hood etc I just poured some gas on. Engine didn't crank at all. Then it cranked and started up with no problems at all.

Will the wheel lock induce a start lock? Was it perhaps only my ****ty after market alarm start lock that interferred?

All is ok
