DIY glove box removal and blower motor replacement

To remove the glove box, first remove the door. With the door closed there are 3 screws holding the hinge to the bottom support bracket. Remove these from underneath. The smallest screw goes in the center. Sorry, no pic for these.
Next, open the door and unhitch the door from the hangers. They disconnect from the door by sliding the tab outward.
With the door removed and the foot well light hanging, the left sided hanger can be removed by simply lifting it out of the slot.
Now to remove the screws holding in the box/liner. There are 2 on each side along the edge by each hanger location. 3 along the bottom in the back of the box. 3 along the top edge of the box. And 5 10mm bolts in a the top of the back of the box. With these bolts out, the whole side of the dash is moveable. The latch stays in place.
Then the box/liner needs to be forcefully folded slightly and pulled from the cavity. It will get hung up on the left hanger, but the box/liner can be manipulated in such a way as to slide the box off of the hanger while leaving the hanger in place.
I left this hanger in place as it appears to be pinned to the damper.
With the box out, now to get access to the blower motor.

Re: DIY glove box removal and blower motor replacement

First the support bracket needs to be removed from the back of the box area. There is a screw on the bottom of each end of the bracket. The light connection and clip will need to be undone.
Looking up from the bottom this is the motor assembly. Remove the breather hose and electrical connection.
There are three screws that hold he assembly in place, two of which also support brackets for electrical connections and wires.
With these removed, another elctrical support bracket needs to be removed to allow access to wiggle the assembly out.
I also removed the lower kick panel to allow extra wiggle room for the wires.

And then the blower is removed, the fan removed from the motor and cleaned up and reinstalled.

Re: DIY glove box removal and blower motor replacement

Fitting the blower assembly back in place is a tight fit, but it will go, then the wires are put back in place, and the box put back together in reverse order.
