What's the best way to remove oxidation from the roof?

Fellas,

The NM sun is taking its toll on the poor SVX who sits outside most of the summer. Consequently, the black roof is oxidizing and I'd like to do something about this. Trouble is, I have less than zero knowledge/interest in body/paint work so I'm going to need some suggestions here. What type of compound do I use and how do I go about working with it? I borrowed a friend's orbital polisher/waxing machine but my guess is that's strictly for applying/removing wax?

Anyway, see the pictures of what I'm talking about.

Thanks.

My roof is not as bad as yours, but I use Meguiar's Color X color Restorer to help hide the faded spot on my sunroof.

Here are some pics:

Not oxidation , the clear coat is shot. Gona take time but. Get wet dry sandpaper. 100 grit, 200 grit. 600 grit 800 grit and the finest you can get. I found 1500 grit. Keep the roof wet and start with 100 and work your way to 1500. I did mine by hand .Sanded in small circular motion. gona take a while . Too really get it better , buff with polishing compound and then the Meguiars stuff. You are going to have to keep it waxed after this . Or dry it compleatly and get a can of Auto clear coat and coat it before you put polishing compound or any wax on it. Or you could get someone to clear coat it for you. Mine was not quite that bad.
Not a great shot but all I have right now. The roof was all cloudy before i did it. This method will improve it 80% got nothing to loose.[IMG][/IMG]
See attached image below to see a better picture .This roof was almost white before the wet color sand. You must keep it waxed. That white is the reflection of clouds in the sky.
