Pictures , what years? What color? Any records. take them to a steep hill put it in N and coast... Listen for wheel bearing noise and brake noise, rust on top door clad seams and for and aft of rear wheel wells. Radiator, exhaust leaks, oil leaks, check all 4 window operation. And check trans performance and make sure it is operating in ALL wheel drive. I am sure there are more ,that is what I checked when I looked .

I think the biggest thing to watch out for is under body rotting especially near major components. Just about anything/everything else is mostly replaceable but if the body damage is that bad then I'd stay away.

Re: Looking at a few local svxs for sale..help

The claret one needs a crank position sensor as well as well as misc interior parts. The claret svx also has a rebuilt transmission with less than 3000 miles on it. The claret svx has 88,277 on the motor and a little over 110,000 on the body itself. I would like to get $1300 for the black svx and $1500 for the claret svx. The wheels on the black svx will not be part of the sale because they are sold. The claret svx has an aftermarket front bumper currently on it but the original front bumper and spare fender will be included
in the sale.

This is some of the info i have so far from the seller

You are selling or buying , now I am confused. Didn't you say you are looking at SVX
Ok u are quoting the seller. Body repair is major stuff and structural integrity is too. Strange 110,000 on body and 88,000 motor. 1st motor lasted only 25,000 miles?

Re: Looking at a few local svxs for sale..help

I'd steer clear of anything with corrosion issues or an engine replacement, or ANY sign that the car has suffered abuse or neglect. The fact that mine have been relatively trouble-free when compared to many here has instilled the belief that the real problem cars are the ones that have had the snot driven out of 'em.
