Exaust setup

So I have had my SVX for about a year now driven 500 miles, and I have only had a couple real problems with it. One of which was me having to remove the resonator because it got water in it and it rusted out (Don't worry, I put a pipe back in its place).

My svx exhaust is a bit quiet for me, so I'd like a new one that people can hear but not one that sounds like some moron went after a Honda exhaust with a ice pick. I was wondering what kind and setup of exhaust other people are running on their svx. And I have a few questions
-Is there any bolt on kits out there for the svx?
-If not, how should I have one built?
-I want to keep my original tips (or some very similar)
-I don't want "honda farts"

What do you all think?

i also want my exhaust louder i was planning to remove the back muffler and use 2 massive cannons (4.5" tips ) but then reduce the tips back down to 2x2" pipes on each side , but have now decided to use some hot dogs and just have twin tips on both sides

Re: Exaust setup

Here is mine, it has been on for quite some time, couple years or so now.

This is 2" true dual piping from each exhaust manifold back. No cats, no inspections were I live. about mid-way there is a glasspack, both pipes so 2 glasspacks total. right behind the rear axle there are a couple of magnaflow mufflers.
If you do this I recommend mandrel bends.

a picture.

-Not really. Stebro for massive $$$$ and long/indeterminate wait times.

-Find a shop that will build custom exhaust systems. If there is any sort of local car forums they should be able to help you out. You live in airplane city, there must be a few talented fabricators hiding out somewhere.

-I want to keep my original tips (or some very similar)
-There are aftermarket options that keep the stock look, or any decent fab guy should be able to incorporate your stock tips.

-I don't want "honda farts"
-Good.
Here's a link to the system I built. I don't have a sound clip, but it's got a nice tone.

Re: Exaust setup

our is driven too much, every day. My exhaust was really loud to over a year because i thought i needed a whole new exhaust and took it in for an estimate last week and they fixed it for $40. It had a leak at the connetion to the resinator. They cut the resonator out and put in a pipe and now you cant even hear the car. It has the original exhaust on it, so i think i will get some magnaflows and give it a little sound.

Re: Exaust setup

i have a single magnaflow muffler on mine (from svx warehouse) with 2.5" pipe all the way back...its basically the layout as the stock system minus any resonator stock cats

sounds nice to me just loud enough inside the car to not be annoying outside it sounds awesome especially when you get a little backfire

i had some guy ask if it had a V8

That is almost he same thing that happened with my car, except it sounded like I had a rusty spoon jingling around in there at about 1750 rpm.

Well for the last year my car did undergo a full paint-job, and I just got it titled about half a year ago, so that took up quite a bit of time, also I come from a long line of people that like to keep the miles off their nice cars.

When I do take it out, it is a 75 mile round trip to school, and man do I love every minute the new speed limit of 75 on the highway

Re: Exaust setup

mine had a horrible rattle that sounded like gravel was in the exhaust. replaced from cat back with single 2.5" pipe into a magnaflow porsche style muffler (1 inlet on the side, and an outlet on either side). whole thing cost $200 which when you consider the cost of buying the muffler, stainless tubing, and new tips is pretty good. found tips that were as close as i could to the stock exhaust and it looks/sounds great. not obnoxiously loud but gets pretty loud when you are high in the revs.
