SVX Addressed in AUTOMOBILE Magazine

On Page 16/17 of the August 2010 issue of AUTOMOBILE magazine, the SVX is mentioned in the two page article on Giorgetto Giugiaro, the designer of the SVX. This is a "profile" of "The Maestro" and all the cars he has had a hand in designing, from Abarth to Zastava, by year, starting with August 7, 1938 (when he was born) to 2010 when Lamborghini Holdings bought 90% of Italdesign - Giugiaro. For 1989 - 1991, it states:
"The Lexus GS300 and the totally unexpected Subaru SVX, a great GT car that was completely outside Subaru's market - and thus sold poorly - reach streets" Interesting history .....

It's a shame they didn't include a photo like they did for some of the other cars. You can also read the artiicle on-line here http://www.automobilemag.com/feature...ory/index.html

Re: SVX Addressed in AUTOMOBILE Magazine

As I recall, the guys at Automobile really liked the SVX, original test article entitled, "SVXpected" or some-such. Not surprising to hear it mentioned again in flattering terms. Thanks for the heads up about the new issue.

Re: SVX Addressed in AUTOMOBILE Magazine

It seems like every magazine I've read REALLY liked the car and they all thought it would do much better than it did. I have a couple of old issues in my posession and both magazines were not expecting alot from it, and then very impressed by the end of their session.

The most likely cause of non-ownership was sticker shock and people not even considering them (or test-driving them) after they saw the price.

Had more people driven them before making judgements, I do believe they'd have sold more.

Then again, that's all purely my own hypothesizing.
