engine quits after a few minutes idling

Hello, this is my first post, but I have been a reader for a while...and would like to say thanks because this forum has helped me out on several issues with my SVX.
Now I have a problem I cant find any answers for.... my engine will die after about 5 or 10 minutes just idling in the driveway. It runs good and It doesnt do it while I drive the car. It doesnt sputter or anything like that, it just shuts down . It is a 92 automatic and all grounds seem solid. Any help will be appreciated.

Thats a tough one. Could be anything from a MAF sensor to a bypass air control solenoid. One question....does this happen when warming it up, does it go from cold to warm before stalling? Or does it do it no matter what... you come home from a drive, leave it idling, and it always shuts down after a short idle?

Are you serious, SoCal

You call that One question...

I think you might be trying to sneak in a few extra questions

Keith,

It has been clearly stated that the one tough question covered by the post is a/the tough one.

Exacyly what is your reason for inserting confusion, within what could become a complicated issue?

Trevor.

Trevor, are you really going to start that crap again???

You must be totally void of humor.

I feel I can kid with SoCal.

If not, he can type me something to the contrary and I certainly will refrain from doing it.

Keith

Re: engine quits after a few minutes idling

I noticed you mention the MAF so I decided to clean it. Test drove it for about 10 minutes last night then let it idle in the driveway for about 10 minutes and it kept running. I decided to try again this morning , this time not driving it ....just letting it idle in the driveway, and it kept running.
So far so good .....I think it was a dirty MAF. Thanks for the quik replies.
