Re: Koni/GC install issues

I still don't understand this thread. Despite numerous people telling you there's nothing wrong you continue to be skeptical.

- the spring will be loose when you jack the car. Reason: the spring is maybe half the length of a stock (non-coilover) spring and will not extend as far as the strut can.
- any (all) struts will extend to their max when you jack a car off the ground. The difference is a conventional spring will still try to extend the strut past its max.

Take a look at all our GC setups...they're all the same.

Re: Koni/GC install issues

Dave, that's just the way I am, haha. I question everything to exhaustion. To that, your statement makes me even more skeptical. You stated that all struts extend to their max when off the ground....this isn't happening with the three other ones.

Mind you, I am questioning this even more because the passenger side is the only one I have an issue with. The 3 other corners are fine, they aren't aren't completely extended and there is plenty of clearance for a tire to be mounted.

I understand that the spring will be loose, that isn't the issue. I think everyone knows my issue here, I've reiterated it enough I think. the thing is that my front passenger corner assembly sits much lower than the three other sides, to me that's reason enough to question something that I did along the way, which clearly isn't right. IF all koni/gc setups had my issue than I wouldn't have a problem.

Do as YT said. Usually the control arm bushings (being rubber) will spring the control arm up several inches above the complete possible suspension travel.
Not actually being there so asses the situation fully I would say to just put your wheel on. I would also think that there is something wrong with your rf cantrol arm bushings. I could tell from the pic that where YT welded your lower spring perches looks to be about where I wleded mine, and in a good location. (I have my car up on 4 jack stands at this time as well)
I may be able to provide some sort of direct comparison for you due to this.

Likely because of how you have the rebound set. Get the car on the ground, set the front rebound settings tyo 1 turn off full firm. Drive the car

Re: Koni/GC install issues

Well everything is on and I took the car for a test drive. She tracks straight which is a lot better than i thought. Doesn't wander and pull to one side, which i was very happy with.

The ride is not harsh at all. Granted I have the koni's set to a quarter turn past soft for both front and rear. Even with that bumps were much more noticeable, but nothing drastic or harsh enough to not be a daily driver. I will be playing with the firmness settings. But everything is good and I am happy that I finally completed this project. I still also have to mess with the ride height.

Thanks for everyone's comments and help throughout this process!

Your quest brought us lots of interesting and educational information!

I don't blame you a bit for persevering to get an understanding of what was going down!
