Re: What is OEM Lugnut weight? Anyone use racing / light lugs?

Our's are on for a few miles at a time then back off and regular lugs to get on the trailer. I've never noticed any to be loose, but again that is after a few miles at most. I wouldn't use locktite, but instead, check them occasionally for the first week...

You're better off with clean threads and a light application of anti-seize, then torque about 5 ft lbs lower than spec with a calibrated torque wrench. If you use straight oil (10W-30 for example) to lube the threads, then torque to the factory spec. Overtightening is always a bad idea as well, since you can surpass the stud's elasticity range, permanently stretching them. Failure is then imminent! |
