hard line on water x-over. No gasket?

Since my engine is going into a 911, there are a lot of things that I won't need. Mostly when refering to the cooling system. There is a hard line that is on the rear passanger side of the water x-over. I removed it tonght because I need to bolck it off/weld it closed. It was a PITA to get off. When I did finally pull the thing off, I noticed that there was no gasket, O-ring or anything sealing it. Is this normal? Is it just a pressure fit/slip fit?
