Factory Trans Filter(external)..

I was reading some other threads about the filter that was installed under a dealer campaign under the battery. There isn't one on mine, and I know the so called trans issues were I guess resolved by 97,is this why?
Secondly is the line on the drivers side or pass side of the radiator the inlet from the trans,I am putting in a temp gauge and I want to put in on the "hotter" line with the filter kit I am going to install.
Thanx All!!!!!

The external filter was part of the solution to keep the fine particles from clogging the screen that was built into the ATF cooler in the early radiators.

Once the radiator ATF cooler was redesigned (no mesh screen to clog) there was no need for it. Here is the link to the TSB:

The "hotter" side of the ATF (out of the tranny) goes into the driver's side of the radiator.
