If you're doing long stretches of highway driving, you may also benefit from removing the plastic tray underneath the motor. I had consistently lower tranny temps with the tray removed in my old SVX (190* at any speed as opposed to around 220* with the tray on the car).

Mike (Green1995SVX) also had similar results with his tray removed.
