No matter how much you hate them you have to appriciate the 70's musle cars for the tractionless death traps that they were. Driving one has the sensation of being strapped to a rocket that you have no real control of. Very scary but damn they were some good looking cars.

Uh... maybe I'm mistaken. I'm referring to the flat black hoods that had the air grabber option, and when you nailed the gas pedal, a small portion of the hood would POP UP to intake more air, and it'd have some shark teeth painted on the side of it. THOSE are the air grabber hood's I'm referring to. The hood you showed a pic of is just sorta....eh.. a challenger T/A type of hood, but I don't think it's called an 'air grabber'.

Cars from the 70s sucked. The last real year of the 'muscle car' was 71, and after that, everything went down the tubes with emissions, bla bla bla.

So ...eh... if you're talking about the era, it was more the 60s... specifically 65-71.

I've been a Shelby fan most of my life, but one car always held a special place in my heart back then.

Proclaimed as the fastest production Mustang in history...

The 1971 Boss 351. Not many people even knew (or know now) that it existed.

Back when I was a high school kid, a farmer I worked for had a 70 SS454 Chevelle LS6. 450 horses and gad would it run. Had an automatic that would leave a little black on the road at 110 when it hit third gear. Eight miles to the gallon if you babied it. That's my idea of a muscle car. They don't make cars with the combo of power and lack of control like that now. A life-threatening ride for sure but jeez was it fun.

You are exactly correct, Rob. The "air grabber" scoop was a vacuum actuated scoop that would come out of the hood on demand. Here is a pic of a '70 Plymouth Roadrunner with one.

Incidentally, the page where I nabbed that pic is like a who's who of what a muscle car really is. The best part is that if you like anyone of them they are all for sale.

OMG! Your old man is my hero! I LOVE his Mercedes!! Sorry guys but I would dump my SVX in a heartbeat to own that baby. I now know what my goal is car-wise...to own a car like that. I love everything about it. The only thing I would do different is the wheel and tire combo.

The guy that designed the site did a fantastic job with the Flash as well. I think everyone should go to the main page and check it out. Awesome job!
Cigar Johnny - Thanks! He actually doesn't like the wheels so much either anymore, but spends his extra cash on the badstang.com project car. Actually, Bad Stang is sponsored by Year One and he is getting free brembos, lines, etc. and will be in magazines around april.

As far as the site goes, I designed the static site for fathers day and the flash site for him for xmas. Thats what I do, I'm a flash developer / web developer.

Just wait 'til www.badsvx.com gets underway!
