SVX Stock Stereo Power
Does anyone know the output watts per channel of the Panasonic stock unit? Mine is in the 97 LSI.
I'd like to upgrade the speakers a bit, but keep it stock without having to add amps if I don't have to. If I need to, I will, maybe an EQ too, and a BBE!!! Thanks everyone and Happy Spring!!! Time for Crusin'!! |

The only real answer to your question is through knowing the efficiency of the speakers, coupled with how loud and/or critically you listen to music.
IMHO... All car stereos without an external amplifier produce in the neighborhood of 20-25 watts RMS regardless of what the manufacturer claims. Has to do with the size and type of power transistors and associated components that fit in the space available. The stock unit has no RCA output jacks. That means any external amplifier has to have high level inputs or use line drivers. Usually means the signal will have more noise at high sound levels than an amp hooked to a unit with built-in RCA jacks. |
