New transmission and question
Well, the warranty company did replace my transmission, all I had to do was pay for the $100 deductible, fluid, and tax. It shifts alot firmer, and the 2-3 shift is a lot like the 1-2. But I've noticed that the torque converter unlocks at the most random times. I can be going uphill or something and it will stay locked, but for example on nearly flat land traveling at constant speed on the interstate it will unlock every now and then. Is there anything that would cause this other than a bad TPS? I know mine is bad but this symptom never happened with my old transmission.

Do you have an aftermarket cooler or a temp gauge to see if the temps are getting too low for the TC to stay locked?

The temp shouldn't be a problem; it's about 60 degrees outside here. The only time that has happened before is when it was in the single digits.

Which is why I asked if you had an aftermarket cooler or temp sensor. My tranny will run at anywhere from 80 to 100 degrees above ambient temps when on the highway. In 50 to 60 degree weather, that makes my tranny temp around 150-160, which is about where my TC locks and unlocks.

Once the TC locks up it shouldn't unlock unless:
1. the tranny temp falls below 100°F 2. your speed drops below about 45mph 3. you manually shift to 3rd 4. you step on the gas

One other scenario
It will drop out if it is getting a wrong signal from the tranny temp sensor inside the tranny.
There is probably a diagnostic to query whether this sensor is busted. Faulty connections to the TCU will also cause strange things, maybe they left some wires or looms poorly connected?? Joe
