2005 Legacy

A friend at work just got his Legacy 2.5GT. What a nice car - it really seems like Subaru has upped its game with this one.

And it feels way too fast for a Legacy.

The interior has little of the cheapness of most newer cars. I still think that Japanese interiors tend to be nicer than American interiors, but all have taken a turn for the worse in the past several years.

The interior styling is very nice, but what's with stylists separating the doors from the dash again? We had nice, rounded features for awhile with dash styling flowing down to the doors. Now we have right angles again. I wonder if that's to help the interior space feel more expansive.

The doors make the most satisfying, soft thump when closed.

The hood feels really light.

They covered the entire engine with a single piece of plastic about a yard long.

My friend didn't opt for leather...pity.

I haven't driven it, so I can't tell you how it feels to drive. But as a passenger I can tell you that the car feels well-sorted. It doesn't roll around on its suspension a lot.

It's a manual - does anybody know if this car has a mechanical center diff or a viscous coupling?
