If a person has the funds to build a custom 3.7 stroker engine, I feel he would invest a bit of time and money in the induction hard parts of the engine. Ported head ports with bigger valves, improved intake manifold flow, bigger cams, ect. This being said it is not unreasonable to assume the engine would make 300 hp NA. With 300 NA hp it should be theoretically possible to make the hypothetical 700 hp on only 20 psi of boost with properly sized turbos and a good aftercooling setup. Jim

I have read of guys who are putting donw 650whp in STi's that have a stock tranny. Granted the STi is 400lbs lighter

I think that 500whp is conservative in our case... or reliable if you want

Why not an auto tranny? Oops! I'm getting off topic. Will be interesting to read more info about this setup.

Close, but no seee-garr!

The set-up you mention will make around 630 hp at 20 lbs, assuming the turbos are big enough to deliver the airflow like you say. To see 700 hp with such a set-up you would need 24 lbs boost.

I still think that a 3.7L stroker kit will make the walls thinner and unable to handle that much boost... Unless... something really crafty is done to strengthen them from the outside...

Wouldn't "stroked" only affect the crankshaft, rods and pistons? Why would the walls be thinner?

No Danny, in a stroke job [can I say that on here??] the piston and the bore remains the same. It is the crankshaft that is worked on to lengthen the stroke of the piston, the distance it travels top to bottom. Longer travel gives the extra displacement. In a rebore situation the thickness of the liner comes into play. Joe

From what I've seen of the EG33's engine block, the open deck design may be the limiting factor in boosting it. The cylinders in an open deck block tend to "squirm" under boost. "O" ringing it will help, but to get the numbers you're talking about, I'm not sure that'd be sufficient.
Yes stroking the EG33 would only involve the crank & rods. The $64 question is, where would you source the crank? Are you saying that the Porsche engine has the exact same bearing spacing/diameter? The thoughts of an EG37 are VERY intriguing.
